[C#] How to Get the Selected Index and Selected Item Text in List View Control

List View class makes the life easier. It represents a Windows list view control, which displays a collection of items that can be displayed using one of four different views.

I know this is not related to Windows Tips and Tricks. But since this blog is dedicated for helping users…. I decided to write the guide.

winbubble

WinGuggle 2.1 System Summary tab is using a list view control written in VB.net.

wintinker

WinTinker Password Generator Web Applications Tab also uses a list view control

There is no SelectedIndex property in List View that’s why its very difficult to get the selected item text using its index.

Thankfully I found a workaround to get the selected index.

if (ListView1.SelectedItems[0].ToString().IndexOf("Audio") > 0)
{
    intindex = 1;  //set the index manually

}

Using the SelectedIndexChanged Event

private void ListViewWeb_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
     if (ListViewWeb.SelectedIndices.Count <= 0)
     {
            return;
     }
     int intselectedindex = ListViewWeb.SelectedIndices[0];
     if (intselectedindex >= 0)
    {
   //MessageBox.Show(ListViewWeb.Items[intselectedindex].Text);
    }
}

Hope this helps!

Encrypted Password Generator For Online Banking, Mails, Facebook, Friendster and Other Social Networking Sites

encryptedpasswordgenerator

You don't need to memorize difficult to remember passwords anymore.

Strong Passwords are secret string of characters that ensure unauthorized users do not access the computer. It can be made up of combination of letters, numbers, especial keyboard symbols, ASCII and spaces.

This is a response to the difficult to remember secure passwords especially if you will use a random password generator.

Although the Easy Password Generator is already the best and the usual way. Encrypted password generator creates a balance between the difficult and easy-to-remember password generators.

From a very simple phrase or word into a strong and encrypted words.

http://windowsforus.com/PasswordGenerator/encryptdecrypt/

encryptedpassword

You just need to remember any simple word (e.g. windows 7 from the picture above) or phrase that you like and the tool automatically convert each characters and encrypts them automatically.

It will generate a secure, long and difficult to read passwords in just few clicks for free!

How in the world can you memorize those characters?

1. Use the tool to generate the password and memorize the easy to remember word only (e.g. windows 7).

2. Before login to your bank, mail, facebook or any social networking website, go to the Windows For Us Encrypted password Generator and use the tool to generate your encrypted password.

As easy as that.

You don't need to memorize the difficult passwords because you can go back to the tool and generate the password again then afterwards, use that for login.

Great!

Using Event Viewer in Windows 7 and Vista

eventviewer Event Viewer is a built-in application in Microsoft's Windows operating systems that enables administrators and users to browse and manage event logs on a local or remote machine. It is an advanced tool that displays detailed information about significant events and helpful when troubleshooting errors with Windows and other programs.

A warning is an event that is not necessarily significant, but might indicate a possible future problem. An Information Event describes the successful operation of a program, driver, or service.

Security-related events - These events are called audits and are described as successful or failed depending on the event such as whether a user trying to log on to Windows was successful or not.

Customized Short and Long URL or Web Site Addresses

colongreaterthan

This is the year that I’m going to expand and make hybrid applications that merges both web and windows apps. The year of Tweaking each famous Web applications.

How URL Shortening Works?

URL shortening is a process of making long web addresses easily recognizable. Bloggers can use this to redirect or forward to another page and regular users can use these for pasting urls on social networking sites .

From this long web URL

http://unlockforus.blogspot.com/2008/07/youtube-file-hack-download-and-save.html

into http://WindowsForUs.com?ca46

or short ones!

http://friendster.com or http://facebook.com/profile/yourname  into http://windowsforus.com?:P

GREAT!

As far as I know, this is the only website that offers a customization of Long and Short URLs into different length of characters (and many more features soon).

Again, Ideas will always be apart of innovation.
